Simple Siding Accents for Your Home

Looking to spruce up the facade of your home? Below are our favorite James Hardie fibercement accent siding options.

James Hardie Shake

Also referred to as HardieShingle© siding, James Hardie shake is made to mimic cedar or wood shakes. The shakes are offered in two edge types: “staggered” or “straight”. Staggered edge gives the look of random sized pieces, giving it a unique custom feel. While straight edge gives a more modern look and clean feel.

James Hardie Board & Batten

Another great option for adding to the design of your home is James Hardie board and batten siding. Also referred to as vertical siding, board and batten siding is made up of two parts: a fibercement panel and a batten trim board. Panels come in smooth, beaded, or cedarmill textures and can span up to 10’ in length which helps lessen the need for multiple seams. The battens can be placed in 16”-24” spans allowing customization for your board and batten design. Similar to the lap siding, James Hardie shake and board and batten profiles are offered in primed or factory painted options.

Side by Side Comparison

As you can see, each type of accent siding offers a unique look. While the different shakes can mimic the look of Cape Cod or cottage-style homes, board and batten options can mimic farmhouse-style or modern homes giving endless design options.

In Conclusion:

Accent siding is a great option if you are looking to add design elements to your siding in gables, bump outs, garages, and much more!
